Meri İstiroti Bahar, who has worked as an executive in the healthcare sector since 1990, came over the years to better understand the demanding side of the medical profession and the depth of the decisions made every day regarding patient treatment.

She noticed that when ordinary citizens look at a doctor, they see an extraordinary professional, someone who never falters… She created this book to convey just how challenging a journey physicians go through, from the day they enter the profession to the time they reach professional maturity. In this book you will find physicians’ real stories, sometimes tragic, sometimes tragicomic, woven from the risky decisions they made in patient treatment throughout their careers, as well as the communication mishaps experienced with patients, patients’ relatives, institutions and colleagues.

The book in your hands was compiled to show the other side of the coin in this profession, to open the doors to the backstage that shapes physicians’ lives. It set out in 2010 to share the sometimes sad, sometimes risky, sometimes funny situations experienced by some of our country’s leading physicians, through their most interesting memories.
